Buddha-Bar Hotel Klotild Palace operates with own electronic key system, specifically designed for the luxury hotel opened yesterday – learnt by Biztonságpiac.hu. The investor, Mellow Mood Group (MMG) Hotels commissioned a Hungarian partner with the development of the security key system.

Nowadays it’s widespread among the hotels to use card based systems for locking the rooms. The specialty of Buddha-Bar – and also a requirement of the franchisor – to use some kind of key system other than cards – as Mária Szilágyi, Engineering Director of Buddha-Bar Hotel informed us.

The system which was introduced in the hotel combines a key-like, non-card based solution with electronic design. The electronic method is definitely needed to allow the hotel operators to monitor the authorization of the room usages in the central system at any time – Mária Szilágyi told us.

The key system operates in offline mode, so the keys are not connected to the hotels central IT-network, thus the rooms cannot be opened from the reception.

The hotel security – just like in other hotels of this category – highly depends on the implemented video camera system: within and outside of the building there are 64 cameras in total, which cover all the high priority locations of the hotel.

The hotel in Budapest is the second member of Buddha-Bar franchise (first being the one in Prague), however the Czech solution didn’t prove to be good enough, hence they already changed their system. It couldn’t be an example for us because of that, so we looked into several electronic, key-shaped devices, but they were all unbelievably expensive – said the Engineering Director.

The investor’s final choice was a completely unique designed utensil: the key-shaped object houses a chip and the doors are equipped with a reading device, which can also read regular plastic cards, but we are going to have special keys – added Mária Szilágyi.

The domestic developed key system also gained the liking of the French Buddha-Bar franchise-owner, so – if the testing period will show positive results – they might use this solution in their future hotels.

Budapest’s new, 102 rooms luxury hotel at the feet of Elizabeth Bridge was opened by Jordanian businessmen’s company, the Mellow Mood Group. The owners of the firm – in honor of their activities in Hungarian hotel development – were awarded the Golden Cross of Merit of Hungary. Viktor Orbán, Prime Minister of Hungary, Zaid Naffa, Honorary Consul of Jordan, Németh Lászlóné Minister for National Development, Pál Schmitt former President of Hungary and Cardinal Péter Erdő Archbishop of Esztergom-Budapest, Primate of Hungary also attended the opening ceremony. Five hotel openings are anticipated this year, three of them are going to be Mellow Mood operations. Mellow Mood Group is running a dozen hotels in Budapest at present.
